Ryan, also known as the Dread Pirate Roberts, is a pirate. He held the title of Dread Pirate Roberts, which had been given to him by Cummerbund. After meeting Westley, Ryan took him aboard his ship after hearing about Westley love of Buttercup. Westley worked for Ryan for years until Ryan finally revealed that he was not the original Dread Pirate Roberts. After a time, Ryan left the title to Westley.
